I have been interested in crafts for as long as I can remember. Even before I was old enough to be allowed to use a needle or scissors I would sit on the floor near my mother while she was sewing and tie and twist and manipulate the fabric scraps to create garments for my dolls. Over the years my interests have expanded into a variety of textile crafts including fashion design, dressmaking, tailoring, millinery, silk painting, embroidery (both by hand and machine), machine embroidery designs and bobbin lacemaking. I have always loved hats and, some years ago, was lucky enough to attend a week long residency course instructed by the legendary Australian milliner Jean Carroll (OAM), as part of the annual Textile Fibre International Forum where I learnt the traditional millinery skills and techniques. I moved to Ireland 6 ½ years ago and took up where I left off in Australia with a workshop with the Dublin based milliner Aileen Keegan to further refine my millinery skills. I have continued my love of millinery and other textile crafts to make unique pieces, some of which you see here.
